The Sequart Research & Literacy Organization in Los Angeles has started a Kickstarter campaign for their third in an apparently unplanned triology of comic-related documentaries. This one focuses on the meteoric rise of Image comics in the early nineties through today, focusing on their roots as Marvel refugees into, arguably, the most popular comic publisher outside of the big two. I had the pleasure of seeing Sequart's previous documentaries, Grant Morrison: Talking with Gods and Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts. They had a conversational style and a strong focus on finding the internal narrative of the subject. I am interested to see how this style will change when the subject changes from a single individual to a cast of characters, following the story of the company instead of the career of a single person. Check out the Kickstarter video below, and - should you feel inclined--donate some money to the project.
